Why still the testing is low in Mumbai?

Despite the capacity of the infrastructure to conduct 10000 tests/day in Mumbai. Since 1st May, the government has restricted the amount of COVID tests to 4000 only. Till today, the total COVID tests tally in Mumbai stands at 2.19 lakh samples. While in the entire country, total tests conducted stands at 45,24,317 till date. It is noteworthy, Mumbai’s contribution in all the Coronavirus cases is almost 20% of the entire country!

In Maharashtra, the government has increased the testing capacity from 7,237 samples per day on 1st May to 14,504 tests/day by 31st May. Maharashtra’s score stands at 5,37,124 samples in its 47 government laboratories and 38 private laboratories. The state is having a recovery rate of 45.06% and fatality rate of 3.57%
