It seems that quite tough times are ahead for Maharashtra! With a huge increase in COVID19 patients, the state is combating against corona, but the results are not visible! Friday was another difficult day as the third minister of Thackeray government, Dhananjay Munde tested positive for COVID19 along with his five staff members.

Maharashtra is Already Facing Shortage Of ICUs and Ventilators

Earlier, Jitendra Awhad (Housing) and Ashok Chavan (PWD) are the ministers, who were tested positive for Corona. The good news is that now they are fully recovered. But this good won’t stay long. As per the survey done by Center Government,

Maharashtra is projected to have a shortage of ICU beds on August 8, while it may run out of ventilators by July 27.

What is the Maharashtra Government’s Action Plan?

The state is under lockdown till 30th June. However, the government has already made it clear that it will not extend the lockdown. Apart from that, CM Uddhav Thackeray has requested the government to allow them to commence Mumbai Locals operations for Emergency Workers, our Corona Warriors.

There are many Corona Warriors traveling in and out of the city from Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, and Raigad districts. But, because of no locals to commute, they are facing a lot of difficulties.

CM Thackeray said in a press note,

“We want the local trains to start, but only for emergency services and the emergency service staffers in various departments.”

Further, he said in his tweet,

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has already started preparations for combatting Corona by extending its capacity. However, another challenge they’re facing is the upcoming monsoon.

Dr. Ramesh Yadav is a private health consultant. He mentions,

“BMC should also consider that several congested areas in the city have been breeding grounds for seasonal infections such as malaria, dengue, and typhoid. We should also prepare for a number of other viral infections, along with COVID19, with the onset of the monsoon.”

We don’t know, towards which direction we’re heading. But right now, it’s necessary that people follow the rules set by the government. As it is the only way, to save yourself and your family.
