Gone are the days, when NRIs used to boast about the world-class facilities they receive in foreign! Indian Railways is all set to renovate Amritsar Railway Station and give it a beautiful look. As we all know, Amritsar is the centre of Faith for many Sikh Pilgrims.

Plenty of Sikh Pilgrims travel to the city, in order to visit the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh. Many of them also include foreign nationals. Therefore, the Piyush Goyal led Railway Ministry has decided to revamp Amritsar Railway Station with facilities like an Airport!

Indoratioian Railway Stations Development Corpn Limited (IRSDC), will carry out this infrastructure project through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

As per the proposed plan, entry to the Railway Station will be direct. Apart from that, there will be a retail space for the people next to GT Road that passes in front of the station.

While revamping the Amritsar Railway Station, the Ancient Sikh Architecture will be kept in the centre. It will also have a huge Lotus Pond, with support of Columns and Lotus Stems around it.

In order to make the internal ambience comfortable for the passengers, all the platforms will be having the cover of a single roof. Apart from that, the design of the proposed railway station will also have space provision for lighting, signages and other such modern amenities.

Alike Airports, this railway station will also have security gates & escalators for the passengers. Besides that, other major attractions include Khanda Fountain and another entry from where people can directly get commute towards the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Baug.

The cost of the entire project is Rs. 300 Crore. All the redevelopment will be carried out in an approximate 22,240 square metres area.
