At the press conference organized at Federal Hall National Memorial on the date January 14, 2004, the final structure and design for the 9/11 memorial were shown to the public. An Israeli-American architect named Michael Arad of Handel Architects and landscape architecture firm Peter Walker and Partner’s concept ‘Reflecting Absence‘ was elected as the leading design.
