In an era where technology and science are booming, some people around the world still believe in doing things their own way, and it’s just heart-wrenching. Some areas of India still believe in desi home remedies instead of getting professional medical help. Not only that, some Indians still believe in superstitious beliefs and try to find out their own remedies for things that can only be cured with medical help.

While the world seeks professional help for even the slightest of things India thrives on other paths around. People have nonsensical ideas connected to things right from a cat crossing your path, the breaking of a mirror or even the bubbling of milk. And the latest addition to this list is dumping someone under a mountain of cow dung to cure them of a snake bite, yes you read it right!

A 35-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr region, Devendri, was bitten by a snake. She was out in the fields to collect wood for household chores when suddenly a snake bit her. She quickly rushed home despite being in pain to inform her husband about the tragedy. But her husband instead of taking her to the hospital called a snake charmer to heal her injury and get the poison out of her body. Upon the charmer’s suggestion, Devendri’s husband wrapped her with cow dung and made a mountain out of cow’s dung over her body to cure her.

As the woman was suffocating under the cow dung, the snake charmer was chanting mantras, which obviously never worked. The poor woman did not get any medical help, so unfortunately she passed away. It’s baffling how people vest their interest in bogus mantras and black magic over medical science.
