Deleting WhatsApp Messages Could Put You In Legal Trouble

With internet available very easily on smart phones, people have become addicted to free texting applications like WhatsApp. This application has changed the whole format of text messages and  made communication very fast and easy but did you know that this messaging application might put u in some serious legal issues.

The Department of Electronics and Information Technology has recently published a draft National Encryption Policy on it’s official website and is inviting people to mail and give reviews about it’s objectives, mission, strategies, reports and regulatory framework reported NDTV Gadgets

People now need to store there whatsApp messages for at least 90 days. deleting this messages will be a crime from now on and legal action could be taken against the individual or businessmen  who delete there WhatsApp messages.

Individuals and businesses will have to save all the un-encrypted messages  (plaintext) and encrypted messages ( personal and unofficial messages). This may land up people in trouble who have no idea about the encrypted forms of communication.

There are around 70 million active WhatsApp users in india and anyone could land up in trouble if complaint is registered about deleting there messages before 90 days.
