A 70-year-old woman in the UK has won a lottery on her birthday that will pay her 10,000 pounds (approximately Rs 10.37 lakh) every month for 3 decades. Doris Stanbridge from Dorking matched all the winning numbers: 2, 11, 17, 30, 38, and Life Ball 3, on August 3 to win the jackpot in the Set For Life lottery.
Mrs Stanbridge decided to buy a lottery ticket after spotting money spiders in her home on her 70th birthday. This is a species of spider that is believed to bring good fortune. She purchased a Set For Life ticket via the National Lottery app, not knowing that this decision would change her life forever.
“We had my 70th birthday party so we had been busy. I saw an email from The National Lottery. I logged on to the App, thinking I had won £10, and then saw ‘Congratulations, you’ve won £10 Thousand a month for 30 years’. I said to Keith [Doris’ husband], ‘Have I read that right? Does that say what I think it says? No, it can’t be!’,” said Stanbridge.
Over the weekend the old grandmother received an email from the National Lottery. Initially, she thought she had won 10 pounds and not paid much attention. However, further reading the email she saw that she had won a staggering 10,000 pounds a month for 30 years. She rushed to her son-in-law in disbelief and sought a second opinion before finally accepting her incredible luck. The official confirmation from the National Lottery arrived the following morning, cementing her status as a lottery winner.
“It still seems a bit strange when I think about the win and that I will get that money every month for 30 years. It gives me a reason to be around until I am 100!” Mrs Stanbridge told the National Lottery. It gives me a cause to live till I’m 100!” Dorris Stanbridge stated. Doris and her husband Keith have already bought an air fryer and a new bed and have also enjoyed a wonderful holiday in Cornwall. Now they plan to revamp their house of 50 years.
