Brittany and Briana Deane are identical twins who were inseparable as young kids growing up in Delaware. Their lives were so intertwined that they dreamed of falling in love with identical twins and marrying them. Well, the universe listened to them and the two got married to identical twin brothers Jeremy and Josh Salyers. They are also identical twins who had the same idea of marrying a set of identical twin sisters.
There is an annual Twins Days Festival held in Twinsburg, Ohio, and that’s where the two sets of siblings met in 2017. They all decided this could be their perfect match and nothing could be better than marrying each other as that’s what they always dreamt of. The Salyerses and the Deanes spent a year dating. And six months later, the brothers (35) proposed to the sisters (33). When all four were sure they had found their match, they returned to the festival and got married right there, in matching outfits.
Both the couples live in Bedford County, VA and had a joint wedding in August 2018. Coincidentally the sisters got pregnant around the same time last year and gave birth to sons. They went back to the twins festival earlier this month, this time with their sons, born about five months apart.
The identical duos first met at the festival when Josh and Jeremy Salyers, now 38, spotted Brittany and Briana after a party in the hotel conference centre, Josh said.
“When we stopped to talk, there was an immediate connection,” he said, adding that it was the first time he and his twin had been to the festival.
“I was attracted to Briana and Josh was attracted to Brittany,” said Jeremy, the oldest of the brothers by five minutes.
“We exchanged phone numbers with each other and started to talk regularly via phone and social media,” he said.
“We met at the festival and married at the festival, and we’ve made lots of friends there,” said Briana, 35, who is five minutes older than Brittany.
“It was important to us that our incredible twin family at the festival meet the boys,” Briana said about the babies, cousins Jett and Jax Salyers.
Briana and Jeremy’s son, Jax, was born in the spring while Brittany and Josh’s son, Jett, was born in late 2020.
The two boys are cousins, but their genetics are similar to those of siblings because their parents are twins who married twins according to Briana. The Salyerses’ sons are known as quaternary twins and their unusual marriage is known as a quaternary marriage.
“It’s a pretty unique situation, but to us, it seems natural,” Briana said, noting that such relationships are so rare that it’s difficult to find statistics about similar marriages worldwide.
