French woman thought she was dating Brad Pitt, loses 830,000 Euros to scammer who used AI photos and videos

This is a story of a French interior designer named Anne who was scammed by AI believing she was dating Hollywood actor Brad Pitt. Anne first gets contacted by a woman posing as Pitt’s mother who convinces her that she is the ‘right one’ for her son and not Angelina Jolie. Later, Anne gets contacted by a man on social media claiming to be Brad Pitt himself. The man confirms that his ‘mother’ has been telling him the same thing. He makes Anne fall into his love trap with AI-generated photos and videos besides his clever play of words. When Anne falls for him thinking he is actually Pitt, she gets tricked into paying a hefty amount.

Perhaps, the scammer did good research on Anne’s marital conflicts with her millionaire entrepreneur husband and planned the honey trap for her to slide into. The 53-year-old found solace in an ‘unexpected friendship’ with someone who she believed to be the actor himself. The scammer took advantage of this challenging time in her life and worked on creating a genuine bond with her before making her a victim of his scam. He even went on to send her luxury ‘gifts’ but made her pay for the customs duty.

French woman scammed into thinking she was dating Brad Pitt, even paid €830K for his ‘cancer treatment’

After gaining Anne’s trust, the scammer made a fake ‘kidney cancer treatment’ scheme and to make it look convincing, he shared AI-generated photos of bedridden Brad Pitt. The twist came in when the fake Pitt told her that owing to his ongoing divorce, his estranged wife Angelina Jolie has frozen his bank accounts and he cannot pay for his cancer treatment anymore. He pushed her to ‘help him’ by sharing Pitt’s AI photos on the hospital bed. But when the financial demands when on increasing absurdly, the woman started developing suspicion. However, only after seeing the ‘original’ Brad Pitt’s post with Innes de Ramon, his new girlfriend, she realized she had been scammed.

Finally, Anne decided to report the situation to the authorities. The French Police in their investigation found out that the woman had been scammed of over €830k by ‘fake’ Brad Pitt.
