A Nigerian fisherman is gaining the limelight on social media for ‘eating’ a million-dollar fish moments after capturing it. Unaware of the fish’s immense wealth, he devoured it with his neighbors and villagers only to regret his mistake later.
An unknown local fisherman recently captured the Blue Marlin fish in Delta State, Nigeria. The huge predatory fish known as one of the swiftest fish on the planet costs a whopping $30,000 per kg. For what he had caught, the man would have received somewhere around $2.6 million, a wealth enough for his future generations. The Blue Marlin is world-renowned for its enormous size as it weighs somewhere between 350 to 550 pounds and is as long as 4.3 meters. Its signature identity is its long, pointed bill that resembles a bird’s beak. The fish utilizes this bill for hunting. Besides, the Blue Marlin has a striking muscular body that is silvery white on the lower half and dark blue colored on the top half. Despite all these unique features, the poor fisherman lost his chance to become a millionaire due to his ignorance. Instead, he chose to consume his wealth by ‘eating it’ and even shared it with others.
The man had no idea that he was sitting on a gold mine! Moments after capturing the huge Blue Marlin himself, he decided to have a feast. He shared it with the members of his community including his family, friends, neighbors, and villagers unaware that they were relishing on millions of dollars. The community wasn’t even aware that the fish is not intended for human consumption. It contains contaminants and unhealthy amounts of mercury making it making it difficult for humans to feast on. The Blue Marlin’s meat is only consumed in the form of a delicacy named ‘Sashimi’ served in Japan.
