These days, everyone will do just anything for views and virality, but at what cost? In one such bizarre case, a woman went to the next level and the Internet is furious. But what did she do? This mom cut off her baby’s oxygen, apparently to make a video asking for a turkey sandwich! As the video went viral on TikTok, it left the social media in disbelief. Check out what exactly happened.
Allie Rae, a TikToker has sparked massive outrage on the platform and across the Internet after she compromised her baby’s safety for a meal. Allie Rae filmed herself over a live video unplugging the cord of the NICU monitor to get a nurse’s attention so that she would bring her a turkey sandwich because apparently, the woman was hungry! She further went on to perform the same ‘dangerous act’ again for the sake of a drink, as noted in another video she posted.
As per her livestream videos, Allie’s daughter was in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) plugged in with several cords showing vital signs and readings on the monitor. The woman took to TikTok posting a video while holding the poor baby in her arms. She kept giving sarcastic remarks as if warning the viewers. She would grab the cord and say, “I actually could do this.” Then she’d proceed to unplug it saying, “Look at that, I can do this.” She finally unplugged the cord stating, “I was told if I needed something to unplug that, and that is what I’m going to do. The viewers were baffled by her irresponsible and dangerous act.
We all know that no medical professional will ever ask a patient or bystander to unplug any medical equipment inside a hospital. But Allie claimed that the nurse had told her to do it whenever “she needs something”. So the woman thought it was okay to do it when she wanted food or water without getting up and going to fetch it herself. Even after getting slammed by netizens in the comment section, she still had the audacity to call them “annoying” because she didn’t want to upset her baby and couldn’t go herself as she was cradling the child in her arms.
The comment section on her TikTok video was filled with hate comments showing how people were concerned about Allie’s daughter’s safety. Some wrote, “Every noise that monitor made, made my heart sink.” Others slammed her saying she deserves “jail time” for her actions. Even some hospital nurses went on in the comment section saying, “Even if the baby wasn’t in NICU, a nurse would never say that to anybody”.
We wonder whether Allie didn’t think of using the call button instead. Was it a publicity stunt or did she actually do this because of not getting the nurse’s attention – the question still remains unanswered. What do you think?
