Losing a leg would be among the most heartbreaking things that can happen to a person. Fortunately, Leo Bonten decided not to mope around about his leg. He instead applied it to design what few would call a piece of art or furniture all relying on how you look at it.

Leo Bonten broke off his leg in a swimming pool accident. But the wound turned out to be so infected that the doctors had no other options other than to amputate it.

While talking about it in an interview, Bonten revealed that he was selling his leg because he wanted to purchase a prosthetic leg, but his insurance deductible turned around to be a massive amount. As a result, he decided to take care of things on his own.

He wished that an ‘eccentric billionaire’ would buy it, but unfortunately, luck did not favour him. CNN interviewed Bonten and he revealed that he got in touch with a pathologist named Frank van de Goot. Van de Goot got legal ownership of the leg post-surgery.

He managed to also preserve it. Post all of this, they succeeded in getting in touch with the designer, by the name William Schaper Kotter, who was ready to transform the leg into a lamp! Yes, it is what you are reading.

Bonten then went on to list the leg lamp on eBay for a little over $125,000 (£78,000) but he had no option but to take it down because eBay prohibits the sale of human body parts. We sincerely hope his leg finds a forever home, or it’s best if it stays put with Bonten.
