We have all heard of work-life balance. But have you ever thought of ‘wife-wife’ balance? Sounds bizarre, doesn’t it? Well, this man has set up a unique balance between maintaining his married life. He will spend Monday to Wednesday with his first wife, Thursday to Saturday with his second wife, and will have a Sunday for himself. Shocked? That’s exactly how this story of a ‘Love Triangle’ has turned up leaving netizens spellbound.

Man, 2 wives reach an agreement: 3 days of week with 1, next 3 with the other

A 28-year-old software engineer from Noida, India has been held guilty of marrying two women and having children with them. But rather than divorcing either one, the trio has decided to settle on a unique agreement. In May 2018, the man married a 26-year-old woman who was his colleague then. The woman became pregnant in 2020 but due to COVID-19 restrictions, the husband ‘dropped her off’ at her parents’ place in Gwalior. Thereafter, he never returned to Gwalior and began avoiding his first wife. In 2021, he married another woman, who was also his colleague, after she became pregnant with his child. In 2023, when the first wife with her child returned to Noida to ‘confront’ the man, she found out that he was living with his second wife and had a child with her.

Soon, the man’s first wife filed a police complaint but no FIR was lodged. The case was handed over to the Family Counseling Center for resolution. Since bigamy is illegal and considered a crime in India, the woman moved to the court to ask for alimony. However, the advocate and counselor attempted to resolve the issue by proposing an unusual arrangement. The man was pursued to agree on ‘dividing everything between the two wives’, including his assets and time.

The trio finally came to an agreement on the proposed setup – the man would spend the first 3 days of the week with the first wife and the next 3 days with another. On Sundays, he is ‘not bound to live with either’ and is free to live anywhere. Besides, the software engineer was instructed to split his ₹1.5 lakh salary between the two wives. Moreover, each wife will get one of the two flats that he owns in Noida. In case of any violation of the agreement, the first wife is eligible to move to the court against the man.

The advocate general associated with the case mentioned that “if the three parties want to live together with mutual understanding, it is fine as long as it is not contested by either of the three.”
