The world is seeing the effect of climate change on humanity time and again. While we all know that the Sun will ‘eat’ the Earth in around 7.5 billion years, one question still prevails – How long will it take for climate change to eradicate humanity completely? Now, you can get an answer to this. Here’s how.

The entire lifecycle of humanity has changed over the past few decades primarily because of the Climate Crisis. People are facing health issues early on in their youth which were earlier associated with old age. An important stressor of this situation is the human emission of greenhouse gases. We all know how crucial it is to reach net-zero emissions as early as we can to leave the planet in an inhabitable condition for the coming generations of humans. But how soon do you think the planet will become unsurvivable for humankind? Well, now you can know.

First-ever supercomputer simulation predicts when humans will become extinct on Earth

In a recent study, researchers have used a supercomputer to analyze a range of data and predict when the planet will become extinct. The supercomputer has examined various factors including the Earth’s climate along with the tectonic plates. And surprisingly, the device has determined when humans might no longer be able to live on the planet. Fortunately, the doomsday is quite far away; precisely, it is not expected in another 250 million years. But what will happen in all this time?

Well, it is not unknown that the Climate Crisis is deteriorating the Earth’s livability day by day. Multiple destructive things will happen before the planet hits doomsday. With the help of the supercomputer, researchers have discovered that the world will change drastically from what it is today over these millions of years. A new supercontinent, called Pangea Ultima, will emerge because of the movements in the tectonic plates causing shifts in the existing continents.

A supercomputer simulation just predicted when humans will go extinct

The ‘new’ supercontinent will create extreme atmospheric conditions including a hotter sun and more carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere. This will result in a hostile environment for mammals devoid of food and water sources. The extreme climatic conditions will become extremely challenging for humans to adapt to. Unable to shed the heat through sweat, humans will gradually become extinct species along with other mammals on the planet. According to the new simulation, if climate changes continue the way they are, then humanity will come to an end in 250 million years.

After this supercomputer study, researchers are warning humanity to take these reports as a wake-up call to tackle the Climate Crisis. If not, million years later, the Earth’s atmosphere will be so full of CO2, that, coupled with the heat of the Sun, the Earth will no longer be able to sustain humanity.
