Going after squirrels and small animals have always been a top-tier hobby for dogs. But this, the dog got himself landed in a much more bargained situation when it got stuck on a tree last week after his not ending chase of a squirrel. The hilarious incident occurred in the US state of Idaho, where firefighters had to be contacted to rescue the dog.
Through an Instagram upload, the Caldwell Fire Department uploaded pictures of the stuck pit bull-husky mix, named Izzy high up on a treetop.
In the pictures, members of the city’s fire department can be witnessed going up a ladder to get the dog from the branch he sat on at the top of the tree. The dog was rescued carefully by the crew who also gave him a meal.
The post read, ”Well, not a cat in a tree. Caldwell Fire and Caldwell Police responded to a dog stuck in a tree, this afternoon. After much coaxing, the canine was brought safely to the ground. Perhaps, he will not be so persistent, next time, in chasing squirrels.”
Christina Danner, the dog’s parent said, “He was the runt of the litter. He did not learn his lesson. He’s been whining all morning trying to get out and get that squirrel.” As per the American Kennel Club, a fascination alongwith the movement of small critters is part of dogs’ predatory heritage.
“There’s often no quicker way to get a dog’s attention than a squirrel sneaking across the yard. Many dogs love squirrels, birds, rabbits, and other small critters. Patrolling the backyard for their presence is a favourite pastime. Small animals are one of the trickiest training distractions”, the AKC revealed on their website.
