It’s not news that women need their “girls’ nights” every now and then to gossip their hearts out and feel better to process life. But ladies, here’s a catch. Even your man needs one, actually two, “guys’ nights” chugging beers to stay healthy. It’s not us; the doctors are saying so. A study has been done that brings us to this conclusion and here’s everything you need to know.

Cheers! Men Need To Drink With Friends Twice A Week To Stay Healthy, Study Finds

A study was done by Oxford University back in 2013 but the old study is still relevant. Herein, a psychologist from the social and evolutionary neuroscience research group of the University conducted the said study that determined that men must meet their friends not just once but twice a week and bond over some beers to maintain the male friendship bond. He concluded that this was important for their good health and stress recovery. As per the psychologist, they can bond over a range of activities – team sports or Friday nights with a pint – so that they can reap the full benefits of their men-to-men friendships.

The doctor, who is also a director at Oxford, revealed that men spend far less time bonding over their male friendships than what is required. They must, instead, maintain social groups and talk out about their worries regarding financial matters and job insecurities. This will reduce the possibility of depression and they will be able to recover from illnesses quicker. That’s because same-gender friendships help release endorphins resulting in decreased anxiety levels and a stronger immune system.

Men need to meet up with friends twice a week for a brew (or a brawl) to stay healthy: U.K. study

Owing to these facts, the psychologist clearly prescribes that men need to physically meet their 4 friends and ‘do stuff’ with them at least twice a week to remain healthy and recover faster. Sending videos over social media doesn’t qualify for this; they need to meet face-to-face to keep their ‘bro-ship’ strong.

So gentlemen, what do beer companies and this Oxford professor have in common? They’re telling you to spend more time with your pals over a pint and binding over sports. Now no need to worry about getting an ‘okay’ from your wife or girlfriend before going for a boys’ night out. After all, the doc is telling you to do it!
