You must have heard that love is blind and it doesn’t respect age boundaries. Love is so uncertain, yesterday friends’ can be today’s lovers, strangers can become partners, and many more. Here is yet another story of Alexis and Charles Tadlock to convince you. In the era where people get differentiated on the basis of how they look, what they prefer, whom they love, where they live and more, there is a couple who overcome the taboo of societal judgments.
It all started in 2015 when Alexis Tadlock and Charles Tadlock aged 24 and 79 years respectively met at church in Sheridan, Arkansas. Charles and his 77 years old wife Kathy lived there. He was a retired school principal at the time. But life had other plans and unfortunately Charles’s wife Kathy died in September 2017 due to lung disease.
Charles was all alone and heartbroken but Alexis was there for him and made his a bit better. Kathy, Charles, and Alexis all three of them knew each other quite well.
After the funeral, Alexis who herself is a funeral director felt sorry for Charles. She was concerned about his mental health and that made her come closer to him and she eventually fell for him.
They started spending more time together and became good friends before falling for each other.
Alexis shared “Eventually, I think we became dependent on each other and my feelings really started to grow the more time we spent together. ”
Before starting to date each other, Alexis even tried to send Charles on some dates with other girls.
She shared “But I never thought anything could happen between us. I tried to set him up with an older lady, but he flat-out refused to even go on a date. Then he asked whether I wanted to go meet a younger guy. But I just couldn’t imagine ever leaving him and finding a younger man.”
She further added “One day, he told me how much he missed me. I asked him if he ever felt that way towards anyone else, and he said, ‘only my wife’.” She continued “We admitted our feelings towards each other, and our relationship just blossomed from there. I was over the moon when he popped the question and we got married just two months later.”
Despite a huge age gap of 55 years, nothing stopped them from falling in love and eventually getting married. They walk hand in hand in public without thinking about what others would think of them. “I really don’t care what others think.” is what Alexis says about the whole situation. They are now planning to have kids as soon as possible. In 2018 Charles confessed his feelings to Alexis in a very romantic way and they got married just two months after the proposal.
About their decision to have a child, Alexis said “We want to have a baby. I’ve been told I’m selfish if I have a child with him because they might grow up without a dad. But when he dies I’ll have nothing of him. I need something from him to carry with me throughout the rest of my life.”
