Love got a Blue Tick, but family left the chat! Yes, that’s exactly what happened in this WhatsApp Wedding. When this couple from India claimed to have married on WhatsApp chat, it left the Internet baffled while both their families opposed the idea. Here’s the tea.

'Kabool hai!': Bihar couple 'marries' on WhatsApp, families oppose union

An unusual incident was recently reported from Bihar, India. Herein, a young couple claimed to have solemnized their marriage over WhatsApp and were now acting stubborn to live together. The boy and the girl were both intermediate students who exchanged messages on WhatsApp as wedding vows. The boy sent a ‘qubool hai‘ message to the girl thrice and the girl responded similarly. Now, the boy started considering the girl his wife as they claimed to have gotten married on the messaging app. Apparently, the young couple has been in a relationship for over 2 years. Besides exchanging ‘qubool hai‘ on WhatsApp messages, the boy has also applied vermillion (sindoor) on the girl’s forehead during ‘secret’ meetings.

Both the families, however, showed a strong opposition to this childish act but the young couple was adamant to go against the families and stay together. The families strongly refused to accept this ‘digital’ union and when the kids were not ready to understand, they decided it was time to let the police intervene and handle the situation. When the boy’s family approached the cops, that’s when the incident came to light and soon went viral on social media.

The families are against this relationship primarily because of the different religions and community backgrounds. This has complicated the whole situation and escalated the issue. When the cops intervened and tried to convince the guy, he created a scene at the police station for 2 long hours. He was seen making a hue and cry demanding that the families allowed him to marry his girlfriend ‘at any cost’. His obsession was clear in his behavior as he distanced himself from his parents and remained firm on his decision.

Finally, after hours of counseling, the police are now waiting for the boy’s family to lodge an official complaint so they can proceed with any legal action if required. The cops are even working on mediating between the two sides so that the situation can be diffused without any formal escalations.
