The world has lost its mind and wallet over a toy. Labubu, the toothy plush monster created by the artist Kasing Lung has gained record-breaking prices of over $172,000 at China’s Yongle Auction. Virality makes even a plush toy exclusive on the internet.
The Pop Mart’s savy marketing has flourished the sales of Labubu doll and has startled the collectibles market. This doll wasn’t an overnight sensation, infact it gained recognition a decade later. Inspired by Nordic Mythology, it was introduced in 2015.
Why is Labubu Doll so expensive?
A presumptuous verdict which increased the number of buyers that made the Labubu Doll trendy overnight was that it speaks volumes of stature and a mark of style. The possession of this doll makes an impact on the individual. The Tik Tok craze followed by the Labubu madness blew up the Internet. This created the need to buy the doll to fulfill the standards of looking trendy.
The fragility in a monster is depicted by the Labubu doll, who is a helper at heart but unintentionally obtains the opposite. This poetic description is rather loved by the buyer, prompting them to fall for the costly redemption. Maybe this is just crafty marketing resulting in a boom of these plush toys.

Labubu grew so much on the internet that on June 10, a Labubu doll which was mint- coloured and 4 foot-tall received ridiculously 1.242 million yuan which is approximately $172,000 at China’s Yongle Auction. It struck record as it is now the most expensive Labubu ever bought.
If this wasn’t enough already, then the mint-coloured Labubu was followed by a five-foot brown edition. This grabbed around $133K from the market. Nearly $570K collection was bought on all 48 pieces in the auction. Believe it or not, this is the new designer toy in the global art chart.
This toy doesn’t just interest the younger population but majorly dictates the adult market. Nevertheless we know for sure Pop Mart won’t just stop at life-size dolls but will be looking forward to laughing at your bank accounts for now!
